Report it. Officially.
The first few hours
- 01
Call 1930 — the golden hour
Call the national cyber-crime helpline straight away. The first hours matter most: banks can put a hold on money before it is moved on.
- 02
Call your bank
Use the number on your card or the bank’s official app. Block cards, UPI and net banking, and ask them to flag the receiving account.
- 03
File on cybercrime.gov.in
Submit a complaint with every UTR / transaction reference and keep the acknowledgement number.
- 04
Stop all payments
No fee, tax or deposit will unlock your money. Scammers will escalate demands — and may threaten you.
- 05
Secure your accounts
Change email and banking passwords, enable two-factor authentication, uninstall AnyDesk or any app they asked you to install.
- 06
Preserve evidence
Screenshot chats, profiles, websites and app screens before they vanish. Export WhatsApp/Telegram chats.
